"All paths lead to the same goal: to convey to others what we are."

PHILOSOPHY

Every one of us has a story. From children to adults, our stories shape our behaviors, our thoughts and our emotions. They influence how we form relationships, how we feel about life, and most importantly, how we feel about ourselves. Sometimes, often without knowing it, we hide parts of our stories to keep ourselves safe and free from pain. But when these parts of our stories go missing, wounds can take root and begin to hurt, draining us and leaving us feeling anxious, angry, depressed or just plain empty. Everyday living becomes more difficult, our physical selves suffer, and we lose hope.

Therapy is an opportunity to discover and make use of the healing and transformative power of our individual stories. Unearthing and reclaiming lost parts, dissolves them of their power over us, and opens the way for self-empowerment, insight, and a more authentic way of being in the world and in relationship with others. What we hunger for can’t be found in other places, people, or things, but within the deep beauty of ourselves, and our unique stories.

None of us remain unwounded, and it takes courage to look at our fears without running away. I believe every life deserves expression, and the individual, an opportunity to realize and honor his/her possibilities – to choose rather than submit – and to live life as our best and true selves.

About Me

I have worked extensively with clients struggling with difficult emotional and mental challenges, such as anxiety, depression and self-destructive behaviors. One of my strengths is working with children, adolescents and their families as they confront trauma experiences (individual and generational) such as accidents, divorce and sexual and/or physical abuse.

As a therapist, my goal is to help clients explore and understand their current experience, by bringing forward parts of their story that are hidden away and/or are not yet known, so as to alleviate current challenges and difficulties. I employ a depth psychological, client-led approach in my work – often utilizing projective techniques such as sand play, art and play therapy.

I completed my MA in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute and am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Santa Ynez, California.
